Venice Festival 2007: Golden Lion roars for Tim Burton
The board of directors of the Venice Biennale
decided to award the Golden Lion for Career Achievement to American
director Tim Burton during the next edition of Venice Film Festival. According
to a note from the Biennale, the prize, which will be presented on 5
September during Tim Burton Day, "honours one of the most courageous,
imaginative, and innovative American directors, a real movie genius,
who has a unique flair for saturating his tales with emotional depth." Tim
Burton has already had two of his films screened at the Festival -- his
two animation masterpieces, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1994) and
"Corpse Bride" (2005).
